Government approves increase of wages and pensions

Council of Ministers approved today the decision for increase of wages and pensions. The decision envisages an increase of 4 per cent for all categories of pensions in the city and 5 per cent for pensions in the village.

Regarding wages, decision envisages an increase of average wage for all budget institutions by 5.4 per cent, whereas wages of lawmakers, ministers and senior state officials will not change.

Premier said that increase of wages and pensions is envisaged in 2012 state budget approved in December and underlined that this rise will be completely covered by state budget revenues.

Prime Minister stressed that Constitution of Albania has clearly underlined the termination of the mandate of a parliament and government and beginning of mandate of new majority and its governance. “Constitutions of European and world countries in general do not recognize any limitation in the activity of the government since beginning of first day until the last day of its mandate. Constitution of Albania gives parliament and its government 4 years to exercise its mandate. In Europe and worldwide does not exist any caretaker government”, Premier Berisha said.
